Dr. Chunhua Yang, Associate Chief Physician at Peking University Rehabilitation Hospital, is a leading expert in the treatment of retinitis pigmentosa (RP). Graduating from Southeast University (formerly Nanjing Railway Medical College), she began her specialization in RP in 1982 under the mentorship of Drs. Tan Yuzhang and Zhou Liang at the Affiliated Hospital of Chengde Medical College. Over the years, Dr. Yang has developed a surgical approach combining Western techniques with traditional Chinese medicine, significantly improving outcomes for early and mid-stage RP patients.

Throughout her career, Dr. Yang has authored nine peer-reviewed papers, including those published in the Chinese Journal of Ophthalmology and the International Journal of Ophthalmology. Her work has been instrumental in validating the efficacy of surgical treatments for RP through comprehensive visual electrophysiological assessments.

In 2000, she co-founded the Retinitis Pigmentosa Treatment Center at Peking University Rehabilitation Hospital, which has since performed over 3,500 surgeries, with international patients from Japan, the U.S., Canada, Malaysia, and Nepal. Her expertise continues to benefit patients worldwide, offering hope and improved quality of life to those affected by this challenging condition.
